Internet Explorer 8 Details

Some more Details regarding Internet Explorer 8 have been released.. here is what we know..

According to Microsoft, Internet Explorer 8 will focus more on security, ease of use, and support for web standards such as XHTML 1.0, CSS 2.1 and improved Ajax and RSS support. Its also rumoured that IE 8 will support so called Microformat. Small tags in the HTML code that can be read differently by various software. Microformat tags can for example be used by calendars or contact lists. The same technology is also likely to be used by Firefox 3.

Internet Explorer 8 will most likely also feature better customization and adjustments to the interface according to the user.

Internet Explorer 8 is due sometime 2008.

It seems that Microsoft is trying to improve the low popularity of Internet Explorer, where version 6 didnt get a proper update for several years, wheras Opera and Firefox are constantly developed, and are more secure and stable. That said, Internet Explorer 7 still got some nice touches as well, including a very effecient phising protection.

So, whats you take on Internet Explorer 8? What is needed to make it on-pair with the competition?
